Conference Objectives

Upcon completion of this program, the nurse and other attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe health disparities and barriers that decrease access to promoting health and wellness of persons with disabilities.
  2. Describe strategies to increase the access to health promotion and wellness of persons with developmental disabilities.
  3. Identify resources that may be used to promote access, gain advocacy, or find community or legal resources to promote access.

The health disparities being experienced by persons with disabilities are being increasing recognized throughout the United States. This videoconference presented by UCLA School of Nursing, in partnership with the Tarjan Center at UCLA, will address access issues of persons with developmental disabilities and ways to facilitate equitable access to improve health and wellness of all persons with developmental disabilities. The conference will feature experts in advocacy and rights of persons with developmental disabilities and health care experts who will address clinical and systems solutions to access. This videoconference is funded by the California Department of Developmental Services.
